Flowers in bloom bring much fragrance, color, and beauty into the world. Humans have always had a close relationship with flowers. This is especially true in Chinese societies, where flowers play an important role in the New Year festivities and other holidays and special occasions. Indeed, a well-arranged bouquet of flowers has a way of injecting a sense of vitality into a meeting or banquet. Whatever the occasion; inaugurations, felicitations, birthdays, visiting the sick, or welcoming friends and relatives, a gift of flowers is an excellent way to express one’s goodwill.
As expressed in a Chan verse, “The same
moon outside the window takes on a new appearance when plum blossoms are present,” through their charm, fragrance, and purity, flowers naturally enrich
our lives.
